Privacy Policy
Effective August 27, 2026
Who we are
This website is operated by Lee for Menlo Park City Council 2026 (FPPC ID #1492742)(“we,” “us,” or “the campaign”), the committee supporting Wonman Lee’s candidacy for the Menlo Park City Council, District 1. This policy explains what information we collect through this website and when you write to us directly, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Information you provide. If you choose to donate, you are directed to our secure donation processor, ActBlue, where you enter your name, contact information, payment details, and (as required by law) your occupation and employer. If you sign up for updates or contact us, we collect the information you submit, such as your name, email address, and any message.
Information from correspondence. If you email the campaign directly, we keep your name and email address so that we can reply, and so that we can send you occasional campaign updates. You did not fill in a form, so we make the way out obvious: every message we send carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to remove you at any time using the contact details below.
Information collected automatically.Like most websites, we collect limited, aggregate technical data — such as pages viewed, referring pages, general location (country or region), and browser or device type — through privacy-first analytics tools. These tools do not use cookies, do not track you across other websites, and do not identify you personally.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Process and acknowledge contributions and comply with campaign-finance law;
- Send you campaign updates, events, and volunteer opportunities — to people who sign up on this site, to people who contribute to the campaign, and to people who have written to us directly. Every message includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and we honor it immediately;
- Respond to your questions and messages;
- Understand and improve how our website is used;
- Maintain the security and integrity of our website.
Contributions and public disclosure
Campaign contributions are regulated by California law. Payment processing is handled entirely by ActBlue under its own privacy policy; we do not collect or store your full payment card details.
Please note:California’s Political Reform Act requires campaigns to publicly report certain information about contributors (such as name, city, ZIP code, occupation, and employer) for contributions at or above the reporting threshold. That information becomes part of the public record and is not private.
Third-party services
We rely on trusted third-party services that may process your information, including:
- ActBlue — donation processing;
- Amazon Web Services — website hosting and processing of form and signup submissions;
- Google — hosting the campaign email account, and storing the messages and email addresses you submit through our forms;
- Cloudflare and Plausible — privacy-first, cookieless website analytics;
- Cloudflare Turnstile — spam and bot protection on our forms.
Each service handles data under its own privacy policy.
Cookies and analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics and Plausible Analytics, privacy-first tools that measure overall site traffic without cookies and without tracking visitors across other websites. Our website does not set advertising or tracking cookies of its own. You can still control cookies through your browser settings. We never sell your information.
Spam and bot protection
To protect our forms from spam and automated abuse, we use Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-preserving alternative to traditional CAPTCHAs. It runs in the background when you submit a form and is not used to track you across websites or to serve advertising. Cloudflare’s handling of this data is described in the Cloudflare Turnstile Privacy Policy.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers described above, as required to comply with campaign-finance reporting and other legal obligations, or to protect the rights and safety of the campaign and others.
Data security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including HTTPS encryption, to protect information submitted through this site. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s privacy
This website is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Only U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents may contribute.
How to stop hearing from us
Every campaign email we send includes an unsubscribe link that works in one click, with no login and no confirmation step. Unsubscribing removes you from all campaign mailings, not just the one you clicked from, and it cannot be undone by anything on our end. You can also email us at info@wonmanlee.com and we will remove you by hand.
Your California privacy rights
Depending on your circumstances, California law may give you rights to access, correct, or delete certain personal information we hold, and to know how it is used. Note that information we are legally required to collect and publicly report for campaign-finance purposes is exempt from deletion. To make a request, contact us using the information below.
Links to other sites
Our site may link to external websites (such as ActBlue). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to review their policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted here, and the “Effective” date above will be updated accordingly.
